Larry Hyman

Hi Doug,
Congratulations on your “promotion”, and welcome to the club (I joined in 2022!). I hope you will find as much joy and discover the many rewards of your freedom as I have, time to continue your important research, be with family, travel, and just indulge. It has been a long and wonderful journey together from our days at USC (1984-1988), visits between UBC and Berkeley, and more. I have learned so much from you, linguistically and otherwise, and have been the beneficiary of warm friendship with you, Anne Marie, and the family. Let us plan to spend more time together, reminisce about old times, and even engage in a tone, an ATR vowel or an allomorph in person. I’m attaching the place tag I made for the last time you had dinner with us in our home. Lauren also says hi and congratulates you as well. You are always invited to come back to Berkeley! The kitchen is ready. All I require is a 24 minute advance notice :-)!
Larry

    Dear Larry and Lauren,
I remember how welcoming you both were to us when we moved to LA. Doug and I were so young 27-28, with 3 little kids and you would invite us for supper and swimming n your wonderful pool. We felt so good and not so lonely!!
You guys were our saviours ♥️
    Anne-Marie
