Dear Doug,
Thank you for your support as a supervisor and for teaching me how to do phonological research. I have many good memories of working on my thesis on Yoruba vowel harmony – your support and guidance made the process a very positive and enjoyable one and helped encourage me to work hard to become a good linguist. You were always very patient and selfless in giving your time to your students – thank you for that. I want to wish you a happy, healthy retirement filled with cycling, beautiful scenery and of course lots of interesting linguistic data, especially on tone.
Thanks for everything!
